Mercedes Bonsai is a German ceramic artist who studied in the Netherlands. She was a Resident Artist at Ceramic Kingdom in 2022. For several years Ceramics had to play a smaller part in her life due to a work injury. During the CK residency she aimed to translate her recent digital ideas into ceramics.
PROCESS & DEVELOPMENT
Mercedes Bonzai starts with drawings and handmade objects and remixes these in a variety of media. She goes back and forth between the digital and the analog, different materials, the functional and the abstract, 2D and 3D, harmonizing and clashing colours.
