Working Artist & ERASMUS Application

Requirements

  • Team player. Interested in community, dialogue, & exchange 

  • 1 month minimum previously working as an artist at CK* (encouraged, not required)

  • 2-3 years minimum experience in ceramics*

  • Engaged in ideas, practice, or research in the larger context of: art, design, the humanities, literature, history, philosophy, science, society, etc. 

  • Minimum 22 years age requirement

  • Eligible visa status to live & work in Berlin

  • English language proficiency ;
    German language helpful (not required)

  • Minimum Program Length: 6 months*

  • Maximum Program Length: 1 year*

  • Exiting the Program: 1 month notice

Benefits

  • Up to 40€ free firings (approx. 6 kilo) per month, included in monthly costs.

  • Additional Firing Fees Discounted at 30% off / Whole kiln bookings 10% off 

  • No Materials fee

  • Unlimited use of the studio, shared space, shared shelves & shared materials every day from 8:00 - 22:00, apart from class times & open studio times.

  • Extended work hours for CK Artists only (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays)

  • Individual Shelf (92cm width, 45cm depth, 35cm height)

  • ½ qm storage space in the Cellar during your active WA program

  • Artist Feature on CK online presence

  • Participation in CK Markets to sell your work

  • Presentation in CK Window Display (Proposal required)

  • Opportunity to assist Classes, present a Workshop or give an Artist Talk (Self-initiated, upon approval)

Costs

  • 80€ space/materials + 40€ firing credit = €120/month*

  • 4 hours of work per week (16 hours/month) for CK*

    Tasks can include:

  • General maintenance, organization, & dust control

  • Clay recycling & wedging

  • Glaze mixing

  • Research & development

  • Photo & Video sharing

  • Kiln training (After 6 months, upon approval)

  • Specialty tasks based on experience

  • Self-initiated projects
